Sandy Drummond

Thirty-three-year-old Sandy Drummond lived in a cottage in the village of Boarhills, near Fife, Scotland, with his brother James. Sandy had worked as a laborer at the nearby Guardbridge Paper Mill for the past seven years, but in late June, he abruptly quit his job, and also withdrew a large sum of money from his bank account for unknown reasons.

Only days later, on the evening of June 24th, 1991, Sandy was found dead on a farm track near his home. Though at first authorities believed he may have died of natural causes, later examination demonstrated that he had been strangled, perhaps by someone performing a jiu jitsu move on him.

After Sandy’s death, police found most of the money he had withdrawn inside his home, and also fielded tips from people who had seen an orange Morris Marina parked outside of the cottage on several occasions. Some sources further reported that Sandy had been spotted in the hours prior to his death running from his house to a field opposite, and that he was carrying a blue sports bag, which has never been found.

Investigators also attempted to locate a man who had boarded a bus near Falside Farm at around two-thirty p.m. on the afternoon of Sandy’s murder; this individual was said to be carrying a handkerchief that appeared to have blood on it, though as of this writing, this man has never been identified.

Sandy’s brother James suspects that Sandy may have been being blackmailed, but admits he has no idea why, or what possible motive anyone could have had for killing him.
