Just before Christmas of 1982, in Ohio, two murders would take place within a week of one another, with the bodies discovered in very close proximity. To this day, neither case has been resolved, and it is unknown whether the two crimes are related, though it seems quite likely.
On Wednesday, December 15th, fourteen-year-old Sonya Green left her East Cleveland home at a little past eight a.m. to go to school at Kirk Junior High. She evidently never made it there. Her body was found buried under a snow bank behind Severance Center the following day; she had been either strangled or asphyxiated.
Days later, on the 23rd, the remains of young teacher Annette Lawrence were found in the same spot, albeit in the trunk of her own car. Specific cause of death was unclear, though obviously a homicide.
Cleveland police renewed efforts to solve both cases in 2016, but no progress has been made since that time.
