Lison Blais

Lison Blais

Seventeen-year-old Lison Blais was out with friends at le Bar Chez Philippe in Montréal, Quebec, Canada, on the night of Saturday, June 3rd, 1978. According to witnesses, she left the bar at about three-twenty-five a.m. on June 4th and presumably headed toward home. Tragically, a horrific fate befell her before she could get there.

The following morning at approximately nine a.m., Lison’s nearly nude body was discovered by a neighbor in an alley just behind her home on Christophe Colomb Street. She had been savagely raped with some unknown object, smashed in the head with a brick, and then strangled to death. Her clothing and purse were never found.

The case went nowhere for decades, and in 2016, the families of Lison Blais and seven other young women who were murdered in the same area at around the same time called for a new public inquiry. There was even talk of a documentary being made about the cases, though it’s not clear if the project ever came to fruition.

Some have speculated that these eight crimes, and perhaps more similar murders in Quebec, may have been the work of a serial killer, but as of this writing, it doesn’t appear that any new progress has been made in the investigation.
