Goh Beng Choo

Eight-year-old Goh Beng Choo was an excellent student at Jurong Primary School and lived with her family in Bukit Batok, Singapore. On the evening of November 19th, 1980, her family was celebrating her academic achievements at home. At some point, the little girl went outside for some reason; her brother saw her in the road in front of the house when he went down the street to buy noodles. Shortly after that, the eight-year-old completely vanished.

Hours later, her body was discovered behind a Taoist temple, only about four hundred feet from her home. The girl was covered in bruises and scratches, and her clothing was torn. An autopsy determined that she had been raped and that the killer had then beaten her in the abdomen until her liver ruptured.

The police began a thorough inquiry, during which it was revealed that an unknown man had evidently asked Goh to go fishing with him not long before her murder, a request she had refused. Other than this lead, however, the case seems to have gone nowhere.

Over the years, the child’s family has been very active in keeping the investigation foremost in the public’s minds, offering substantial rewards for information and periodically meeting with police investigators to discuss any progress. In November of 2023, the case was featured on a Chinese-language crime show called Inside Crime Scene, but as of this writing, no new developments have been announced.
