Rosina Hilliard

Twenty-four-year-old Rosina Hilliard had been making her living as a sex worker in Leicester, England for some time. On February 22nd, 1974, her body was found lying across a road on a building site in Highfields. It appeared that her killer had attempted to strangle her, as there were compression injuries to her neck, but she had also clearly been run over by a car, as both her spine and collar bone were fractured and she had severe head trauma. It was unclear which of the injuries had caused her untimely demise, however.

In 2017, detective and former police chief Keith Hellawell speculated that Rosina may have been a victim of the infamous Yorkshire Ripper, Peter Sutcliffe, who killed at least thirteen victims between 1975 and 1980. Hellawell, who interviewed Sutcliffe thirty times, believes that the serial killer may be responsible for eight additional killings, including that of Rosina Hilliard.

As of this writing, though, the crime is officially unsolved.
