Debbie Faye Pelletier

Twenty-seven-year-old Debbie Faye Pelletier was a loving, well-liked mother of four who lived in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. She’d had a rough life in general, being a survivor of an abusive family, and had also recently gotten out of her own abusive relationship.

On Christmas Eve of 1988, she had invited some friends over to her house for a visit, but at some point after midnight, events took a horrific turn.

Debbie was stabbed in the back initially, and her killer then proceeded to stab her several more times. He also severed her fingers. Emergency services were summoned, but Debbie was dead on arrival at the nearest hospital.

The motive for the crime was unclear, but police did arrest one male acquaintance of Debbie’s and eventually charged him with the slaying. He was acquitted of her murder in May of 1989, however, and the crime is still unsolved.

Tragically, Debbie’s sister Carol Prudhomme was also found dead under suspicious circumstances in 2001. The outcome of that case is likewise undetermined.
