Twenty-five-year-old Tafadzwa Khan, better known to his friends as Taffy, was attending a party at the mansion of former British boxing champion Herbie Hide, located in Bawburgh, in Norfolk, England. The party took place on March 18th, 2012, and had been planned to celebrate the fiftieth birthday of Herbie Hide’s friend, Alvin Prescod.
By all accounts, the event was going smoothly; everyone was having a good time, and there was no hint of the tragedy about to unfold. But then a fight broke out between Taffy and two other men, and before anyone knew what had happened, Taffy was lying on the floor, bleeding profusely from several stab wounds. Emergency services arrived quickly, but sadly, Taffy could not be saved.
Witnesses told police that another partygoer, Joshua Burton, had left the party shortly after the incident and that he may have had a knife blade sticking out of his sleeve. Another witness reported that a second man, Brandon Rodney-Lawrence—better known as Ace—had punched Taffy, but this witness said he hadn’t seen a knife. By contrast, a third witness stated that they had seen Rodney-Lawrence stabbing Taffy multiple times.
Both Burton and Rodney-Lawrence were arrested and questioned. Rodney-Lawrence clammed up and told authorities he didn’t remember anything about what had happened. Joshua Burton, on the other hand, was eventually charged with the murder, but the case against him was dismissed.
The stabbing death of Taffy Khan, therefore, remains officially unsolved pending further evidence.
