Sixty-two-year-old Philip Silvester was described as a quiet man who kept to himself. He lived alone in a house on Kellaway Road in Kidbrooke, London.
At around noon on December 2nd, 2009, Philip was captured on CCTV camera driving to a convenience store on Whetstone Road in his silver and blue Ford Escort and making some purchases at the shop. As far as anyone knows, this was the last sighting of him alive.
Shortly before six p.m. on December 13th, police forced their way into his home after friends noticed they hadn’t seen or heard from him in more than a week. Officers discovered Philip dead inside the house, having been killed by multiple, brutal blows to the head and chest. It was speculated that he had been murdered not long after he had been seen at the store eleven days prior.
There seemed no indication that the crime was a robbery gone wrong, and authorities admitted they were baffled over why someone would want to kill Philip, who had evidently never bothered anyone and was not involved in anything that might put a target on his back.
A reward of £20,000 was offered for information leading to the arrest of his assailant or assailants, but as of June 2024, there has been no progress in the case.
