David O’Leary

Thirty-one-year-old father of three David O’Leary lived on Valley Road in Lydden, Kent, England, and had recently started his own scaffolding company.

On March 1st, 2008, he and his girlfriend Emma Terry had been out for a night on the town in nearby Margate. Upon arriving home shortly before three a.m., David noticed that the electricity in the house was out. Emma walked into the residence first, but as soon as David followed her over the threshold, someone opened fire at him, shooting him once in the chest and once in the neck.

The shooter then told Emma to lie down on the floor, but she ran for it instead and survived the attack. David was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities noted that the crime had all the hallmarks of a contract killing, but an investigation into David’s history and connections revealed nothing that would have made him an obvious target.

David’s father Daniel is convinced his son was killed by a hit man, and at one time offered a quarter of a million pounds of his own money to anyone who could provide information about the person who had hired the shooter.

Police are keeping all lines of inquiry open, but as of July 2024, the motive and perpetrator behind the killing of David O’Leary remains a mystery.
