Thirty-eight-year-old Marsha Wray worked as a nurse at Harrogate District Hospital in North Yorkshire, England. She was married and had two children, nine-year-old Philippa and six-year-old Robert.
On the morning of Friday, January 24th, 1997, Marsha dropped her children off at their primary school, which was only around the corner from the family’s residence. After saying goodbye to her son and daughter for the day, she mysteriously vanished.
Two days after she went missing, her car, a red Metro Quest, was seen at the Nidd Valley Gorge in Knaresborough. It was still there on January 28th, but later, authorities found the vehicle abandoned in Headingley, Leeds. No one knows who moved the car to this location.
Police became suspicious of Marsha’s husband Colin, particularly after he told them that Marsha had informed him she’d be going away for a few days. Investigators dug up the yard around the family home and scoured all their financial records for clues, but nothing untoward was discovered. Colin has always maintained his innocence and cooperated fully with the inquiry, even voluntarily giving DNA samples and the family’s medical records to detectives.
Despite a thorough investigation, Marsha Wray has never been found and is presumed the victim of a homicide. The case remains open but is currently on hold pending the receipt of actionable new information.
