Guydance Dacres

Guydance Dacres was just sixteen years old, and lived with his parents and younger brother in a house on Mill Row in Hoxton, Greater London. He was a student at Cardinal Pole School and was well-liked by teachers and other students alike.

On the evening of January 4th, 1997, Guydance’s friends decided to take him out to his first-ever nightclub, and the group went to a place called Chimes in Clapton. The venue was hosting a private party, and about three hundred people were present.

Guydance and his friends were dancing and enjoying themselves well into the wee hours of January 5th, but suddenly, someone approached and shot Guydance once in the head. The victim was killed instantly.

Police later found the murder weapon in the nightclub’s bathroom, and though they suspected that many of the partygoers knew the identity of the shooter, none would divulge any information.

The street where the club was located, Lower Clapton Road, would later become so notorious for gangland violence that it would be dubbed the “Murder Mile.” However, Guydance appeared to have absolutely no gang connections, and authorities believe he was simply targeted at random.

Years later, in 2000, two men, Anthony Bourne and Fabiann Fatinikun, were arrested and charged with the killing, but they were eventually acquitted.

A new appeal to solve the tragic crime was launched in 2017, but no new leads emerged, and as of this writing in August 2024, the cold-blooded murder of Guydance Dacres remains unsolved.
