Twenty-eight-year-old Yvonne Coley lived in Bordesley Green and made her living as a sex worker in and around Kings Heath, Birmingham, England. On Friday, May 25th, 1984, her partially nude body was discovered beneath a hedge on the outer perimeter of Cocks Moor Woods Golf Course on Warstock Lane. She had been strangled with her own bra.
The main suspect in the murder is known prostitute killer, serial rapist, and pedophile Alun Kyte, nicknamed the Midlands Ripper. In 2000, Kyte received a life sentence after being convicted of the murders of twenty-year-old Samo Paull and thirty-year-old Tracey Turner, who he killed in December of 1993 and March of 1994 respectively.
Although authorities are fairly certain that Alun Kyte is also connected to the 1984 slaying of Yvonne Coley, there is at present no direct evidence linking him to the crime, and the murder of the twenty-eight-year-old remains unsolved as of September 2024.
