Jennifer Kiely

Jennifer Kiely

Thirty-five-year-old mother of three Jennifer Kiely was originally from south London, but around 2005, she had something of a mental health crisis, abandoning her family and living in homeless shelters around southern England. She was sometimes seen wandering around Sussex, pushing a stroller.

On January 22nd, 2005, her body was found in a seafront shelter in Eastbourne. She had been sexually assaulted, stabbed sixteen times, and then set on fire. The stroller she always had with her had been set alight on top of her.

Witnesses reported seeing a suspicious man behind the Grand Hotel in Eastbourne the night before Jennifer was found dead. The individual was described as Eastern European in appearance, standing around five-foot-ten with a slim to medium build, light blond hair cut short, and a round face. He was wearing gray jeans, white sneakers, and a dark blue jacket zipped all the way up. The man has never been identified, and it’s unclear if he had anything to do with the crime.

The case picked up steam in 2017 as police sought to track down the owner of some unidentified DNA found at the scene. And in January of 2024, a reward of £20,000 was announced for information leading to the conviction of the person responsible.

But as of this writing in October 2024, the brutal rape and murder of Jennifer Kiely remains unsolved.
