Margaret Quinn

Thirty-six-year-old Margaret Quinn was in a house on Skye Road in South Lanarkshire, Scotland with her male cousin, John Paul Quinn, and at least one other person. The date was June 12th, 2015.

At some point, Margaret was stabbed in the back; the wound pierced her heart and killed her instantly.

In the spring of 2016, a man named Craig Simpson was charged with Margaret Quinn’s murder, as well as the attempted murder of her cousin John.

At the trial, John launched an attack on Craig Simpson while the latter was in the witness box giving testimony; John later claimed that Simpson had “smirked” at him. John also threatened another witness, Simpson’s girlfriend Debbi Clark, during the court proceedings.

John Quinn was arrested and sentenced to three years and four months for his courtroom shenanigans.
Craig Simpson, meanwhile, was released after a jury returned with a verdict of not proven in the murder of Margaret Quinn and the attempted murder of John Quinn. After Simpson’s acquittal, no further arrests were made, and the homicide remains officially unsolved as of October 2024.
