David Seymour

Thirty-year-old David Seymour lived in Checkendon, South Oxfordshire, England with his fiancée. On the night of October 25th, 1997, he had gone out drinking with friends, and by the time the early hours of the 26th had rolled around, the group had installed themselves at Oscar’s, a wine bar in a shopping center called The Oracle in Reading, Berkshire.

David was standing on the patio when quite without warning, a man approached and smashed a bottle over David’s head before proceeding to stab him in the chest. The perpetrator also stabbed David’s friend in the stomach before fleeing the scene.

Both victims were rushed to the hospital. David’s friend made a full recovery and was released, but sadly, David Seymour was pronounced dead on arrival.

The main suspect in the crime was described as a black man in his thirties, standing about six-foot-two. This man reportedly did not return to his job after the incident, and though police staked out his home, he never returned there either.

A few days after the attack, authorities picked up a twenty-four-year-old man for questioning, most likely as a witness to the crime, but he was released shortly after.

As of this writing in October 2024, the bizarre and seemingly random murder of David Seymour is still unsolved.
