Chamlong Allen

Forty-nine-year-old Chamlong Allen was an unusually tall woman, standing six-foot-five, and though originally from Thailand was living in West London. Her husband, a somewhat famous actor from Bond films named Irvin Allen, had started a food stall twenty years prior, and Chamlong had started to cook for it as well after they married. Eventually, when they separated, she was running the stall, called Mrs. Tasty Thai Cuisine Ltd., in Portobello Road market.

On April 27th, 2005, Chamlong was found brutally stabbed to death in the garage she used for cooking food to serve at the stall.

Only three hours after her body was discovered, police arrested Chamong’s husband for the slaying. The pair had been going through a divorce and a bitter custody battle, and Chamlong was planning to move back to Thailand after everything was sorted out. In her diary, she had written that her husband beat her and that she was terrified of him; she had reported his abuse to the authorities, but it seems nothing was done. She also stated that he was demanding £100,000 from her for her use of the food stall.

Chamlong had moved out of the family home in December of 2004, and had been sleeping in her car. Despite this, none of their friends or acquaintances believed anything was amiss, and later told investigators that they thought Chamlong and Irvin were a regular couple; they’d never even heard the pair argue.

As there was no forensic evidence tying Chamlong’s husband to the murder, he was acquitted at trial, and since that time, there have been no further developments.
