Dean Jeffery

Dean Jeffery was a father of three who lived in Bristol, England. At around eight p.m. on the evening of September 21st, 2006, the day before his thirty-ninth birthday, he was walking home from a Fishponds Road shop when he was set upon by an attacker or attackers unknown, seemingly for no reason.

The perpetrator(s) beat him in the head and face and quickly fled. Dean, bleeding profusely, managed to stagger home, where his horrified longtime girlfriend Debbie Dyer called an ambulance. Dean lost consciousness shortly after arriving at his residence.

He was immediately rushed to nearby Frenchay Hospital, where he languished in a coma for a week before succumbing to his injuries.

Police interviewed hundreds of potential suspects and witnesses and arrested seven individuals, but ultimately, nothing came of all the diligent investigation, and the case went cold. Authorities suspected that whoever had assaulted the victim had most likely not intended to kill him.

Although Dean had gotten into some trouble with drugs two years before his death, it wasn’t clear if those associations had anything to do with his slaying.

As of this writing in October 2024, the murder of Dean Jeffery is still unsolved.
