Seventy-year-old Percy Francis lived alone in a bungalow in Rushden, Northamptonshire, England. On Monday, August 1st, 1988, Percy willingly let a visitor into his home. The following day, he was found dead.
Percy had been beaten and stabbed. There was no sign of forced entry, and nothing had been stolen from the residence. The victim had had a haircut very shortly before being murdered, but it was unclear whether the person who visited him on Monday had been the one to cut it.
A young man known only as Mac visited Percy from time to time and may have cut his hair, but Mac was never tracked down. Police interviewed many other friends and relatives who were regular visitors to Percy’s home, but none of them provided any insight.
As of November 2024, the mysterious murder of Percy Francis is still unresolved.
