Gamal Fares George Mallwi

Forty-four-year-old Gamal Fares George Mallwi, locally known as George, was originally from Cairo, Egypt, but had emigrated to the UK and was living in West Brompton, west London with his seven-year-old daughter. He owned and operated a fish and chip shop called the Light House Fish Bar in West Kensington.

At approximately eight-thirty p.m. on the night of Friday, November 28th, 2003, George and his brother, thirty-six-year-old Gnasser Mallwi, were leaving the chip shop and getting into George’s car on Thaxton Road when an assailant approached them and opened fire. Both men were shot, and the perpetrator then fled the scene.

George and Gnasser were rushed to the hospital; Gnasser survived his injuries, but George was not so lucky, succumbing to gunshot wounds in his chest and stomach.

During the investigation, it came to light that George had also been shot seven months prior, and at nearly the same location. Police were looking into the possibility that George’s murder might have been the result of an ongoing feud, but had no solid leads in that direction, and stated they were keeping an open mind as to the motive.

In December 2003, authorities arrested a thirty-year-old man in connection with the crime, but this individual was later released without charge. In April of 2004, a reward of £10,000 for information was announced, but as of this writing in December 2024, there have been no further updates, and the murder of George Mallwi is still unsolved.
