Forty-year-old Sean Grimes was originally from London but had moved to the Merseyside area in mid-2001.
A few days after Christmas of the same year, specifically at nearly five o’clock on the morning of December 28th, Sean was assaulted by at least two men as he walked near a garage in Litherland. After the attack, the victim managed to crawl to a nearby bus stop, where he was found several hours later by a man on his way to work.
Sean was rushed to the hospital, but died of his injuries more than a week later, on January 7th, 2002.
Police were searching for two men who had been seen in the vicinity at around the time of the crime, one of whom was wearing a baseball cap and looked to be helping the victim to his feet. Authorities have never been able to trace either of these individuals.
As of this writing in December 2024, the beating death of Sean Grimes is still unsolved.
