Sixty-three-year-old Wlodzimierz Komisarek was a Polish immigrant who lived in Edison Road, Hornsey, London. On May 15th, 2000, he was found beaten and strangled in bed in his home.
Police believed he had possibly awoken and surprised a burglar, who then killed him. Some items appeared to have been stolen from Wlodzimierz’s residence, and the perpetrator had fled the scene in the victim’s car.
Shortly afterward, a man was arrested and placed on trial after a witness told authorities that the suspect had confessed the crime to him. The accused individual had been a lodger in the victim’s home. The suspect insisted he was elsewhere when the murder occurred, and as there was no further evidence connecting him with the slaying, he was found not guilty and released.
The identity of the killer is still a mystery.
