Tangor Gokkusu

Sixteen-year-old Tangor Gokkusu was a student at Stoke Newington secondary school, and an avid soccer fan, particularly of the Turkish team Galatasaray. He lived with his family on Heron Drive in Finsbury Park, north London.

On October 3rd, Tangor was on his way home from class, taking the 141 bus from Stoke Newington as usual. He disembarked only yards from his home shortly before six p.m. It’s believed that he may have had an argument with a group of other teenagers on the bus, and these youths followed him when he got off.

There was a confrontation at the corner of Green Lanes and Brownswood Road, and during the fight, Tangor was stabbed once in the neck. The attackers, described as Mediterranean in appearance, ran away after the assault. Tangor managed to stagger to a nearby supermarket and collapsed, after which employees called an ambulance. The victim was transported to Homerton Hospital, but he died of his injuries four days later.

Not long after the incident, seven people were arrested, but all were released without charge. The murder weapon has never been recovered.

Another appeal for information was made in 2010, on the tenth anniversary of the murder, but neither the identity of the killer nor the motive for the slaying is known.
