It was January 8th, 2000 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Forty-year-old Steve G. Wilson was driving his 1999 Ford Explorer and had come to a stop on Jackson Street. Suddenly, a man jumped into the vehicle’s passenger seat.
According to witnesses, the car began moving again, but shortly afterward, the sound of several gunshots was heard. The Explorer ran a red light, was hit by another vehicle, and then careened into the parking lot of a nearby shopping center. It then crashed through a chain link fence and slammed into some large planters, finally bringing it to a stop.
The shooter fled the scene before authorities arrived but was described as a black male in his late teens or early twenties. He stood about five feet seven inches and weighed around one hundred sixty-five pounds. He was wearing a dark jacket, dark pants, red shoes, and a red baseball cap.
Steve Wilson was transported to University Medical Center but died from his injuries. The case went cold not long after it occurred and remains unsolved as of this writing.
