Thirty-seven-year-old Carla Bailey lived alone in an apartment on Martin Lane in Toledo, Ohio. On January 21st, Carla’s relatives contacted the police, stating they hadn’t heard from Carla in several days and had become concerned about her welfare.
Officers entered Carla’s residence and found the victim dead inside. She had been beaten and stabbed multiple times. It was unclear whether there had been forced entry into the apartment, whether Carla had been sexually assaulted, or whether robbery had been the motive for the seemingly random crime.
The case went cold almost immediately after it occurred, and there has been no progress in the investigation in more than a quarter of a century.
