It was nearly eleven-thirty p.m. on the night of August 30th, 2000, and twenty-one-year-old Jamon Griffin was hanging out with friends in a parking lot on NE Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in Portland, Oregon.
Suddenly, two men began shooting into the crowd, and Jamon was hit. The suspects then fled the scene. The victim was taken to Emanuel Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
An investigation into Jamon’s background and associations revealed that he was not involved in any gang activity himself but knew people who were, leading police to conclude that the shooting might have been gang-related.
The perpetrators were simply described as two unidentified black men, with no further details given.
The case has gone cold, but Portland law enforcement is still asking for tips to help solve the murder of Jamon Griffin.
