At approximately eight a.m. on the morning of October 18th, 2000, a man was walking his daughter to school along NE Waldo Road in Gainesville, Florida. In a wooded area just off the road, they spotted something horrific.
When law enforcement arrived, they discovered the remains of thirty-year-old Lisa Lavoice. She had been stabbed and strangled.
During the investigation, it came to light that the victim had last been seen alive at a nearby residence the night before her body was found. Lisa had been a drug addict and made her living as a sex worker.
The few leads that police had fizzled out fairly quickly, and the case went cold. Its status has remained unchanged for more than two decades.
