It was the afternoon of Tuesday, November 7th, 2000, and Tyrone Duane Abraham was at his residence on Southeast Kelly Street in Portland, Oregon. His cousin was also in the apartment, as was his two-year-old son. His girlfriend and the mother of his son, Corinne Hoffard, was not at home.
Suddenly, intruders burst into the apartment and shot Tyrone in full view of his cousin and his toddler son. Following the crime, the attackers fled the scene and were spotted getting into a white four-door vehicle and driving off.
Tyrone’s cousin called 911, but Tyrone was already dead by the time first responders arrived. The cousin told authorities that one of the shooters was known as JB and that he was relatively sure all of them had known Tyrone and had meticulously planned the murder.
Tyrone had a history of drug possession and was known to have some gang associations. The apartment complex where he lived was also a hub of drug activity.
The case went cold very quickly and remains unresolved as of March 2025.
