Myrna Spuehler

Myrna Lynn Spuehler was thirty-five years old and lived with her boyfriend Bob Netherland on Cheryl Drive in Redding, California. On November 17th, 2000, according to Bob’s panicked 911 call, two masked assailants broke into their home for the purpose of robbery. During a struggle, one of the attackers shot Myrna once in the chest.

After the perpetrators fled the scene, Myrna was rushed to the nearest hospital but subsequently died of her injuries.

In 2001, authorities confirmed that Myrna’s boyfriend was the main focus of the investigation, as there had been inconsistencies in his account of the evening of the crime. However, the murder weapon was never located, and there was not enough evidence to charge Netherland with the homicide. He was summarily released, and died in 2005 in a motorcycle accident.

Though police conducted numerous interviews with other persons of interest during the investigation, all leads eventually dried up, and the case went cold. It remains unsolved as of late March 2025.
