Willie Hamilton Jr.

Willie Hamilton Jr. was a well-known figure in his San Diego neighborhood, a friendly forty-eight-year-old who sold incense and pictures on street corners around the Reynold Street area. Willie had a history of mental illness but had never been known to cause anyone any harm.

On December 5th, 2000, he was approached by two men who proceeded to kick and beat him, seemingly for no reason other than malice. The victim sustained a severe head injury in the attack, and though he languished in a hospital for months, he eventually died on April 1st, 2001.

There is very little information about the appearance of the attackers or their possible motivation. The San Diego Police Department is still accepting tips on the case, but the investigation has gone nowhere in the past two decades since it occurred.
