Christopher Hewitt

Eighteen-year-old Christopher Hewitt was from Jamaica, but had been visiting the Bristol area of England for two weeks in the summer of 2001.

On the evening of June 10th, Christopher was at the Jolly Roger Pub on All Hallows Road. According to reports, a group of other Jamaicans outside the pub had sent a message to Christopher to come out and talk to them. When he did, a fight broke out, and in the melee, Christopher was brutally stabbed ten times, once through the skull and once in the gut. He was also slashed all over his body with the knife.

An ambulance rushed him to Bristol Royal Infirmary, but he soon succumbed to his injuries.

A number of people had been sitting outside the pub and had witnessed the murder, but most were reluctant to speak to the police. The Jolly Roger was known locally as being frequented by the criminal element.

Police recovered a knife sheath near the scene, as well as part of a long carving knife, both of which were assumed to be connected to the attack.

Nineteen people were arrested over the course of the investigation, but none were ever charged with the crime. Authorities suspected the murder might have been drug-related, as it was quite common for Jamaican drug mules to fly into the UK via Bristol.

As of April 2025, the horrific slaying of Christopher Hewitt is a cold case.
