Nineteen-year-old Samantha Berg had faced numerous challenges from a young age. She became involved in the sex trade and struggled with substance use. Despite these hardships, those who knew her described her as a vibrant individual with hopes for a better future. These hopes, sadly, were never to be realized.
On January 25th, 2005, Samantha’s partially-clad body was found frozen to the ground in a parking lot behind a trucking company near 127th Avenue and 78th Street in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
The exact circumstances surrounding her death remain unclear, but it was deemed suspicious. Her death was among several involving women leading high-risk lifestyles in the Edmonton area during that period.
Samantha’s case became part of Project KARE, an RCMP-led task force established to investigate the deaths and disappearances of individuals involved in similar lifestyles in Alberta. The task force aimed to identify patterns and potential links between cases, but as of this writing, no arrests have been made in connection with Samantha’s death.
