Colin Hughes

Colin Hughes

Forty-two-year-old Colin Hughes worked as a chef at a local pub and lived with his fiancée in a house on Baden Road in Liverpool.

Shortly before one a.m. on the morning of September 21st, 2010, Colin was playing cards with his partner when they both heard the glass in the back door being smashed. Colin went to investigate the sound.

After a few minutes, he hadn’t returned, and his fiancée went to see what was wrong. She found Colin in the back garden, lying face down in a pool of blood. He had been stabbed once.

An ambulance arrived in short order and took him to the hospital, but he died of his injuries not long after arriving.

Over the course of the investigation, ten people were arrested and interrogated, but all were eventually released without charge. Police were particularly seeking several people in a dark hatchback who had been talking to Colin outside of his house only a few hours before he was murdered. They were also keen to track down an individual spotted in an alley behind Colin’s house not long before he was killed. This person was described as a white male, standing around five foot ten, with a slim build, and clad in a dark tracksuit.

As of this writing in October 2024, the murder of Colin Hughes is still unsolved.
