Twenty-four-year-old Akim Akin Jidie Oriola was a well-liked young man who lived in London, England. At approximately ten forty-five p.m. on Saturday, July 15th, 2006, Akim was inside the Village Bar Chinese takeout restaurant on Hoe Lane in Enfield, north London when he became involved in an argument with another customer.
Witnesses reported that the disagreement quickly intensified before moving outside the premises. Once outside, the two men fought, during which Akim sustained catastrophic injuries.
Although emergency services were called and he received medical treatment, the injuries proved fatal; Akim died in the hospital on the following day, July 16th.
Detectives from the Metropolitan Police launched a murder investigation immediately following Akim’s death. Because the incident occurred in a public location on a Saturday evening, police believed there was a strong possibility that additional witnesses had seen the altercation or the suspect leaving the area.
Despite these efforts, investigators were unable to gather sufficient evidence to identify and prosecute the person responsible. Over the years, authorities have renewed appeals for information through homicide review initiatives and public databases of unresolved cases, but they have been met with nothing but dead ends.
As of this writing in July 2026, the murder of Akim Oriola remains officially unsolved.
