Eighty-two-year-old Arsenio Martin Cabezas had been married to his wife Maria for thirty-seven years. The couple lived in a house in Lacrosse, Florida, and had two adult children.
Just after midnight on May 6th, 2010, shots were heard at the Cabezas home. His family found Arsenio moments later, already dead from bullets reportedly fired through his bedroom window.
Detectives have not publicly provided many details about the crime, including how many shots were fired, what type of firearm was used, where exactly Arsenio was when he was struck, whether anything was taken from the residence, or whether investigators found evidence of forced entry.
Nor does the public case summary identify a suspect or person of interest. No motive is given. There is no description of a suspicious vehicle or individual seen near the residence, and the Sheriff’s Office does not say whether the victim appeared to have been specifically targeted.
As of September 2026, more than sixteen years after the murder, the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office continues to feature Arsenio Cabezas’s death among its unsolved cold cases.
